June 2009, Seville: UNESCO declares the Dolomite Mountains a World Heritage Site. The vast area under protection, characterised by an extraordinary concentration of solid rock, comprises five groups of Dolomites in South Tyrol, two of which are located in Alta Badia: the Natural Parks of the Dolomites at Fanes-Sennes-Braies (Fanes-Sennes-Prags), Puez-Odle (Puez-Geisler), Sciliar (Schlern), Catinaccio (Rosengarten) and the natural parks of Sesto (Sexten).
